Manuscript Information For Authors

Medical Sentinel of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS)



MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscripts are accepted for publication on the condition they are contributed solely for use in the Medical Sentinel.
Manuscripts should be submitted on a 3 1/2" disk compatible with MS-DOS Wordperfect,® version 6.0, Microsoft Word,® version 6.0 or in ASCII format. Manuscripts may also be e-mailed to jorient@mindspring.com.
Hard copy (double-spaced) in duplicate should accompany the diskette.
Do NOT insert codes in the disk.
Receipt of all manuscripts and media materials will be acknowledged.
The Medical Sentinel cannot be responsible for unsolicited manuscripts unless a self-addressed, self-stamped, return envelope is enclosed.

 

STYLE

Feature Articles --- 1500-2500 words.
Editorials ---1000-1500 words.
Commentaries --- 750-1000 words.
Correspondence --- Letters to the Editor should run 500 words or less.

References --- References must be typed double-spaced and numbered consecutively as they are cited in the text.
References should conform to the following style: Orient JM. Microorganisms, Molecules, and the Environmental Risk Inverter: Assumptions and Outcomes. Medical Sentinel 1996;1(2):31-33.
Abbreviations used in references should conform to the style of the Index Medicus.
References not in this style will be returned to the author for revision.
Numbered references to "personal communication" or "unpublished data" may not be added to the reference list. If essential, such material should be included in the text in parentheses. A date should be cited for "personal communication."
Articles that are seminal in nature and inclusive of original research may cite more references than those of general articles.

Illustrations and Tables --- Illustrations should be submitted in duplicate and must be of a quality suitable for reproduction (i.e., high-contrast black and white glossy prints, preferably 5 x 7 inches).
Illustrations should not be mounted, stapled, or clipped.
Illustrations and tables should have the author's name, figure number, and the top of the figure lightly indicated on the back.
Figure legends and table descriptions should be typed double-spaced, on a separate sheet.
Tabular data should not duplicate material in the text.

Classified Ads --- $150 for the first 25 words and $1 for each additional word. $100 for AAPS members. $250 for Corporate rate.

PUBLICATION

Proofs
--- Galley proofs will be submitted to the authors for correction and prompt return (within 48 hours).
Reprints --- Request for reprints should be made directly to AAPS.

The Medical Sentinel reserves the right to revise, reduce, or reject any materials.
All articles published, including editorials, letters, and book reviews, represent the opinions of the authors, and do not reflect the official policy of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, the Medical Sentinel, Hacienda Publishing, Inc., or the institution with which the author is affiliated, unless this is clearly specified.
